Who is eligible to sign up?

Orbit Utilities is designed for tenants and home owners renting houses or flats in the UK. Whether you’re a working individual, a couple, or part of a shared or student household, you’re eligible to use Orbit Utilities. Many landlords and letting agents partner with Orbit Utilities to offer this service to tenants. If your property is already connected to utilities, we ensure a seamless switch.

How do I get a quote?

Simply contact us or your letting agent for a bespoke quote for your property. All we need are some simple details and we will get back to you right away with a bespoke all inclusive fixed price quote for your utilities.

How do I sign up?

Signing up is easy and straightforward. Just fill in the order form that came with your quote - you can do this either online or by filling in the paper form and sending it to us or your letting agent. Provide move-in date, tenancy end date, number of occupants, and contact details for any other tenants you want to share the bill with. We’ll then take payment details to set up the direct debit, and you’re all set to go!

What happens when I move it?

We do all the hard work for you before you move in, to set up your utilities with the suppliers. You should expect to have your modem at your new home ready to install on the day you move in (based on suppliers connection timings), and your gas, electricity and water will all be set up and ready to use. You may need to submit opening meter readings for gas, electricity and water on the day you move in - and we’ll provide details of how to do this nearer the time.

How fast will my broadband connection be?

As standard we’ve arranged for you to get the fastest broadband possible - up to a lightning fast 1GB fibre package, if your property has a suitable connection. If an upgrade to your line is possible we’ll liaise with the broadband providers engineers to get this done as soon as possible after you move in.

Are my utility costs fixed during my tenancy?

Yes! When you sign up with Orbit Utilities we guarantee that all your utilities will be provided for a fixed monthly price, giving you complete certainty on how much goes out of your account each month. The amount you pay won’t vary based on how much electricity or gas you use (subject to our fair usage policy for residential use).

What happens if I move out before the tenancy end date?

Your contract with us is for a fixed period to align with your tenancy. You may cancel your contract with no penalty if you let us know within 14 days of the date we accept your order. If you cancel your contract after this date there may be some costs that you need to pay, depending on the reason for you cancelling your contract. More details can be found in our customer terms and conditions.

Tips for a smooth start

•  Sign up early: Submit your form 2 weeks before move-in to ensure uninterrupted service.
•  Coordinate with housemates: In shared properties, ensure all tenants have signed up and provided their payment details.
•  Verify meter readings: if applicable provide meter reading on your move in day, once a month after you have moved in, and on the day you move out.
